A trip to Tabarka island

Tabarka is a beautiful island located only 6 km from Santa Pola. You can get there by various boats and ships from Torrevieja, Alicante, Guardemar del Segura and Santa Pola. On the island you will find many gift shops, cafes, bars and great seaside restaurants offering traditional Mediterranean food. You can also visit an island museum and while strolling, see beautiful porches, and other buildings. A charming tourist trail around the perimeter of the island will take approximately 40 minutes. For more information please follow the link.

Pink salt lakes of Torrevieja – a natural spa resort in Spain

Torrevieja is surrounded by two salt lakes - La Salina de La Mata and Torrevieja Salt Lake. The area has been declared one of the healthiest in Europe by the World Health Organisation. The landscape of the park is colored pink by the presence of salt-loving Halobacterium bacteria. The park is popular with locals and holidaymakers. Its specific microclimate brings great advantages in the treatment of lung and skin diseases and, like the Dead Sea, is so salty that you can lie on the surface of the water. In this protected natural park spa you will be able to enjoy a completely free mud bath.

Orihuela town

Orihuela town is a medieval town with a beautiful cathedral and castles. Well-preserved buildings, monasteries and churches create wonderful and natural scenery for one of the biggest and most beautiful medieval festivals in Spain – the Fiesta de la Armengola. It is a great place to visit at any time of the year. Orihuela town is often mistaken for the seaside town of Orihuela Costa, where our holiday home is based.

Elche – a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Palmeral of Elche is the largest concentration of palm trees in Europe, growing more than half a million date palms. Some of the trees are over 300 years old and were planted by the Moors around the Fifth Century. The Palmeral is a unique example of Arab agricultural practices on the European continent, and it’s ancient irrigation system is still functioning. It is the only palm grove of its type in Europe. In 2000, the UNESCO declared The Palm Grove of Elche a World Heritage Site.
